I have a lot of free time on my hands now. Free time should be used productively often. When you’re productive, you feel accomplished and that’s always good. Even from the smallest of tasks. For me…..that would be nails. For a minute, I gave up on my art form. My nails were looking bland out here dawg. I went back to biting them and my hands were looking like baby joints out here. But I’m back on it! And I’m excited to try out new designs and mix & match and see how long I can let my nails get this time. New nail polish colors. More work with deco art and accessories. And just an all-around good time. Here’s my latest:

If you remember the first time i showed a collection for myself was back in Feb. of this year. With graduation and other ups and downs of adulthood I assumed that I wouldn’t do any more shows this year. But I decided to be apart of one for my girl Jacquelyne and her Blaq Seance Show.
I only showed 6 pieces ( the last one was requested to be all black because of the theme). I always try to think out my collection so that all the pieces are consistent and look like they belong in a line up together. I must say though because of recent events and time constraints I wasn’t able to add all the details and styling I usually would. So I definitely need to do a photo shoot with these new garments soon.

Lee Jeffries has moved something in me with these photos. What is so striking about them are the feelings that arise when looking at these subjects. You would think, “pictures of the homeless” would show me large watery beautiful eyes that show a kind interior covered in a beaten exterior.
But these photos give me something else. OMINOUS AND SINISTER. I’m sorry if that was not Jeffries intention but that is what I pulled from it. My thoughts went to the film Constantine and The Haunting of (Insert name). Where people see evil in passers by on the street.
Possibly because of some personal problems I’ve been having it seems like some of these portraits are whispering to me “Beware your sins, or become me”. . . Kind of a tough motivator huh? I may have to frame one so I don’t forget that. . . (See more on his Flicr Page
I really feel like St. Louis brings out some of the best dancers in the nation. I’m not sure why that is but I will just assume it as a fact. I think it’s dope to have a passion and purpose to just express yourself, and do it with style.

Dope Art, Dope Music…Free Drinks and Free Entry…what more do you have to lose…
This past weekend I had a meeting with the homie Sean over at Tower Classic Tattoos (remember when nesbitt posted about these guys?) The meeting wasn’t about getting a tattoo at all but I ended up walking out with one. I would say I’m about 70% done with my sleeve, so I have about 4 more sessions to go. PRAY FOR ME.

Another shoot that has me shook! They are a real life couple which I think is dope. Stuff like this pushes me closer and closer to my tattoos! (and shout out to that nipple action too)

Keith Haring is one of my favorite artists. His drawings/interpretations send me a simple message with a vibrant appeal…….and I love it. I love it SO much that I even got one of his pieces tattooed on my arm:

Designer Nicholas Kirkwood transformed some of Haring’s pieces into fashion via shoes! These are pretty artistic and I am pretty plain for the most part so I don’t know if I can pass with most but the turquoise one up above is what i NEED [want] in my life!!!!

Today I went to shoot with one of the coolest (and smallest) dudes i know in Forest Park. My label ‘Maison Parvenu’ (House of New Money) is being formulated the right way. Which takes time and a large focus on reason, purpose, and style. So I’m taking things seriously!!!
Even though people say I have great style I’m still trying to find out what my style is. I appreciate fashion that you consider out dated, too busy, too plain, or flamboyant. I enjoy my style being on such a wide spectrum but when it comes to building my fashion house I have to build it on revenue and relevance to others grow.
I’m not only making clothes for myself, I want to share my vision with others, so for them to appreciate it and $pend their resources on my pieces i have to find my common connection point.
My walk around the S.L.A.M. today really gave me a lot of inspiration for my upcoming street wear pieces All the different eras, parts of the world and details sparked in my head.
Sometimes we forget to leave the house, and our creativity gets road blocked. Try driving down some random street in a random neighborhood and see what inspires you.
A day with nothing new has been wasted. . .
This past Saturday was Lane 4′s 1 year anniversary show that consisted of performances by The Hawthorne Headhunters, Scripts and Screwz, Michael Franco, and more. There was also a tech art show/installations that went on that included myself and other artists and VJ’s alike. After the show there was an all night after party at the Civil Ape Studios. I didn’t make the after party though, because my young-old tail was tired and desperately desired the comfort of thine pillow. Check out the pics below though and there is also a recap vid on the way.

WORK/PLAY and Secret Sound Society Present a Benefit Show
- – The two arts groups are joining forces for a one night only celebration of local art and live music.- -
On Friday, September 9 WORK/PLAY and Secret Sound Society are joining forces to present a Benefit how at the Handlebar. WORK/PLAY will sell their artwork through out the night inside while the outdoor patio hosts a show featuring some of the most promising and inventive young musicians in the city. Those artists performing on the patio include: Scripts N Screwz, Teressa Janee and Michael Franco. Afterwards, the talented multi-disciplenary artist 18andCounting will spin inside.
Proceeds from the benefit show will go directly towards the two groups and will be split between them to help fund individual projects. WORK/PLAY will use proceeds to help pay for mild renovations, vintage presses, and other various equipment needed to open their new print shop. Secret Sound Society will use proceeds to help in part fund new projects that support and invest in the local music community possible in the near future. In addition to the Benefit Show, WORK/PLAY has also started a kickstarter campaign to also help raise needed funds to renovate their new shop.
